Gaïa(s) exhibition pays homage to the earth. Hands in the earth knead, compress, model and inscribe each gesture in a work of art. The artist breathes artistic inspiration into the material. Earth has a special aura in the plastic arts.
Like the Greek mythological goddess Gaia, Mother Earth, Fabienne Auzolle, Frédérique Fleury, Muriel Persil and Mathilde Sauce give birth to creatures. Each in their own unique way, they work with clay to create sculptures that are organic, poetic, divine or aquatic. The shapes question immortality, connection, the relationship between nature and the body, and the mystery of femininity.
